Portable computers are modern world?s necessity. Today we are in an era where technology advancement makes it possible to have computers as small as your palm. Now even smaller and much advanced versions are possible with the introduction of nano-technology.

Intel labs have made a break through design with their Terahertz transistor, which could stay cooler and waste less power, as they are made smaller to create faster and faster computer chips. Terahertz transistor as well allows the continuation of Moore?s law, with the number of transistors doubling every two years. Faster switching rates will help in making faster computing possible. Transistors in today?s computer chips lose current like a leaky hose. This leakage produces heat while the new Terahertz transistor plugs these holes in, making smaller and faster chips. The key problem of the power is as the transistors are run at very high speed and this increases the power consumption, which in turn increases, the heat dissipated. As a result, the transistors drain the battery as well as consume too much electricity.

As Terahertz transistor solve these problems, futuristic applications such as real time speech recognition and translation as well as real time facial recognition for security applications become possible.
