Summary:
This article describes how to setup PPPoE on the Netgear Wireless G WGR614 router. Other Netgear routers may have the same screens. If the cu has a DSL that requires PPPoE, then you will need to enter the PPPoE login details into the router. The PPPoE login can be removed from the PC.
Resolution:
To login to the router, in Internet explorer, go to http://192.168.1.1. If that does not work try this address: www.routerlogin.net. If that does not work then try plugging the PC into the router using a wired connection. Finally, try resetting the router using the reset switch on the back or bottom of the router. Note, this will clear all router settings.
If the login works this screen will appear:
The login name is admin and the password is password.
This results in the screen:
Click on the Basic Settings option in the left hand panel. This should give this screen:
Select Yes for Does your Internet Connection Require a Login? Choose Other for Internet Service Provider (In this case it means PPPoE). Enter the Login name and Password. If the user does not know these they will need to contact their ISP. The Service Name field can be left blank and the Idle Timeout is best left at the default.
