A simple method to determine a video driver version is done by using the dxdiag.exe utility. This can be used to find more information about the driver and the utilities to ensure the driver is working properly.

Use the following step to run dxdiag.exe.

  1. From the Start menu, click Run.
  2. In the Run dialog box, type: dxdiag.exe. Click OK.
  3. In the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window, click the Display tab.
  4. View the Version information in the Driver area on the Display tab.

Note: The driver information may vary depending on the video card solution and driver version that is used. This cannot be used in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 workstation.
