Resolution:

Try turning on HTTP 1.1.

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Go to Tools->Internet Options and click on the Advanced tab.
  3. In the HTTP 1.1 Settings section check each of these boxes and then click Apply and OK
    • Use HTTP 1.1
    • Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections

If that does not work try adding the update site to the list of trusted sites

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Go to Tools->Internet Options and click on the Security tab.
  3. Click Trusted Sites and then click Sites.
  4. Clear the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone check box
  5. Type *.windowsupdate.microsoft.com in the Add this Web site to the zone box, and then click Add
  6. Type *.windowsupdate.com in the Add this Web site to the zone box, and then click Add
  7. Type v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com in the Add this Web site to the zone box, and then click Add
  8. Type download.windowsupdate.com in the Add this Web site to the zone box, and then click Add
  9. Type windowsupdate.microsoft.com in the Add this Web site to the zone box, and then click Add
  10. Click OK twice.
