Summary:

Windows XP recognizes various file extensions such that when you double click on a file it opens up the program associated with that file. Sometimes the wrong program can get associated with a particular extension.

Resolution:

The fastest way to change this is to right click on the file and choose Open With Then choose the program from the list of available programs or use the Browse button to find the correct one and then check the box, Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.
