Computer is unable to go online either because of malware attack or a connectivity failure.
Cause:
The connectivity profile corrupt due to Malware or problem with internet connectivity settings.
Workaround:
- Check with IPCONFIG.
- Try to ping and check for valid IP address.
- Disable Antivirus or firewall.
- Check and start DHCP, DNS, RPC, Plug & Play and Network Connections services and check the 169.254.x.x or 0.0.0.0 IP address.
- If you still not getting a valid IP address then try winsock reset and reinstall TCP/IP. or
- You have got the valid IP address but it display this message could not find host . Now try to ping websites IP address.
- Force DNS (4.2.2.2 & 4.2.2.1)
- Power cycle modem.
- Release and renew IP address (IPCONFIG /RELEASE and IPCONFIG /RENEW)
Now you have got valid IP address and able to ping websites. But still unable to browse, then try to troubleshoot the browser.
- Try other browser if customer has one installed.
- Try IE optimization.
- Uncheck enable third party browser extensions
- Uncheck any proxy.
- Disable addons/ Try no addons mode.
- Check in safe mode with networking.
- Use Windows Explorer to browse instead.
