Research report is considered a major component of the research study for the research task remains incomplete till the report has been presented/written.
The most generalizations and findings are of little value unless they are effectively communicated to others.
Writing of report is the last step in the research study.
This task should be accomplished by the researcher with utmost care, he may seek the assistance and guidance of experts for the purpose.
Layout of the research report
The layout of the report means as to what the research report should contain.

A. Preliminary pages
In its preliminary pages the report should carry a title and date.
Then there should be a table of contents followed by
List of tables
Illustrations
So that the decision maker/anybody reading the report can easily locate the required information in the report.
B. Main text
The main text provides the complete outline of the research report along with all details such as..,
The main text of the report should have the following sections:
Introduction
Statement of findings and recommendations
The results
Implications drawn from the results
The summary

Introduction
The purpose of introduction is to introduce the research project to the readers.
Mention the clear statement of the objectives.
A breif summary of the relevant research may also be stated.

1.The hypotheses of the study, definitions can be stated. 2.The methodology adopted in conducting the study must be fully explained.
QUESTIONS:
How was the study carried out?
What was the basic design?
What questions are to be asked?
What instructions were given for observers?
Who were the subjects?
How many are there? How they are selected?
Statement of findings and recommendations:
Statement of findings and recommendations in non-technical language.
So that the findings to be extensive, at this point they should be put in in the summarised form.
RESULTS:
A detailed presentation of the findings of the study , with supporting data in the form of tables and charts together with a validation of the results.
All the results should be presented in the logical sequence and splitted into readily identifiable sections.
Mention the problem with which he was concerned, the procedurre by which he worked on the problem, the conclusions at which he arrived, and the bases for his conclusions.
IMPLICATIONS OF THE RESULTS:
The researcher should again put down the results of his research clearly and precisely.
The general reader can easily understand the implication of the human behaviour.
It is considered a good practice to finish the report with a short conclusion which summarises the main points of the study.

At the end of the report appendices should be enlisted in respect of all technical data such as
